Muhlenberg Companies to Close

Two sister powder-coatings companies in Muhlenberg Township have notified the state Department of Labor & Industry that they will be closing their plants and laying off 31 employees.

Tiger Drylac USA Inc. and Reading Powder Coatings Inc., at 1090 and 1100 Commons Blvd., respectively, reported that 23 people will be laid off and two workers possibly reassigned at Tiger DryLac, and eight people laid off and four workers possibly reassigned at Reading Powder Coatings.

The companies are expected to begin layoffs Dec. 19, with both plants closing permanently Dec. 30, according to Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, notices sent to L&I this month.
